Insurance and Claims Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Insurance and Claims Manager based in our Finance Department at our Walworth depot. The successful candidate will report directly into the finance director, managing and controlling the insurance and claims function for Transport UK London Bus both internally and externally. Furthermore, the Manager will ensure appropriate insurance levels are maintained, minimise insurance and claims cost, and encourage best practice across all London sites for accident reporting and investigation.

Duties include:

  • Producing monthly reports for management accounts.
  • Preparing annual insurance renewal return.
  • Maintaining record of local account adjustments for sensitive claims.
  • Attending relevant industry forums.
  • Liaising with the First Notification Of Loss & Intervention provider, claims handlers, insurers, brokers, solicitors and loss adjusters.
  • Identifying initiatives that support the business in controlling claims costs, maximizing recoveries and limiting the company’s risks.
  • Investigating Delegated Authority Requests and providing advice to the Directors.
  • Ensuring all litigated cases have the necessary documents to allow for the best possible outcome in court.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for guidance and support for local management on insurance and claims.
  • Collaborating with the Head of Site Safety and Sustainability and Head of Operational Safety to help identify and drive improvements and reduce the risk of injury/claims.
  • Management of the Claims Co-Ordinator role ensuring organization of all claim reports.

All candidates must:

  • Be well organised with good attention to detail.
  • Have strong IT skills, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Have effective communication and customer relation skills (written and verbal).
  • Have account management skills to co-ordinate multiple external stakeholders.
  • Be comfortable working as a part of a team and equally on own initiative.
  • Have a flexible approach and be prepared to work outside normal hours to meet deadlines or work demands.
