We have an exciting opportunity to join our Engineering Department as Stores Assistant, based at our Hayes Depot. The successful applicant will be assisting the Engineering Storekeepers and the Stores function to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Transport UK London Bus operates bus services across London on behalf of TFL, plus rail replacement and event services across the UK. We operate 11% of the London’s bus network, running over 900 modern high-tech vehicles and employing around 3,500 employees across six depots in Central, South and West London. We carry over 150 million customers a year on TfL’s contracted bus network – and are the fastest growing operator in the capital.
The Role:
- Assists in the management of all wet and dry stock to ensure that their holding and use is appropriate and in line with agreed budgets and forecasts and consumption complies with all Company policies and regulatory requirements under the delegation of authority.
- Orders and receives goods, packaging up dirty components to return to suppliers, restocking shelves and keeping a clean and tidy workplace.
- Maintains and develops new content that is in line with brand guidelines and delivered in a timely manner.
- Responsible for the daily fuel dips and deliveries.
- Provides daily delivery or collection of parts from other Transport London UK Depots, including moving parts from our overstock/float depot.
- Helps with Stores projects to ensure they run efficiently and professionally.
- Supports 6 monthly and annual Stock counts
- Understands and follows engineering materials budgets as set by the Purchasing & Inventory Manager and the local Fleet Manager.
The Candidate:
- Excellent communications skills – both written and verbal.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
- Full driving licence is required.
- Ability to work well with others and good organisational skills.
- Good time keeping and highly reliable.
- Background within PSV Bus operational workshop environment.
- Stores experience is preferred but not essential, training is provided.
