We are looking for innovative, self-starting individuals to apply for our engineering apprenticeship scheme. If you have a genuine interest in vehicle maintenance and associated technology and want to be part of a team working in a fast-paced supportive environment - then why not apply!

We go to great efforts to make sure our apprentices are trained to the highest standards in the industry. Our apprenticeship scheme is a four-year programme, and you will be working towards the IMI Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Bus and Coach Engineering and Maintenance. During the apprenticeship, you'll be paired with a fully trained mentor to guide you through the programme and develop the skills to become a fully qualified PSV Technician.

Transport UK London Bus operates bus services across London on behalf of TFL, plus rail replacement and event services across the UK. We operate over nine per cent of the London bus network, running c800 vehicles and employing around 2,700 employees across six depots in Central, South and West London. We run a number of routes, carrying over 150 million passengers a year on TfL’s contracted bus network.

Duties include:

  • Carry out supervised repairs, and maintenance on our modern fleet of vehicles.
  • Be able to work well using own initiative.
  • Duty of care for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues at all times.
  • Attending college when required.

All candidates must:

  • Must have good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Be able to communicate effectively and have the confidence to work collaboratively with
  •  colleagues.
  • Must be punctual and meet deadlines whilst attending college and the workplace.
  • Must be able to commit to a four-year training programme.
  • Must have at least a Level 1 GCSE Grade 3 and above or Grade D and above in English and Maths.

Progression Path:

Transport UK invest in and develop our staff within the engineering sector supplying training for the technology and vehicles we have within our business. Apprentices will be mentored and supported throughout their career to advance through the following roles:

  • PSV Technician
  • Advanced/Master Technician
  • Chargehand
  • SM (Service Manager)
  • FM (Fleet manager)
