The Role
We are looking to add a Payroll Operations Manager to our structure to support future growth and support our existing Payroll Teams who service over 13,000 employees per month across various companies.
The successful candidate should be able to work independently and in collaboration with others to lead an efficient and accurate Payroll Team to ensure processes, and end to end payrolls are completed within Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
As a pivotal member of our Payroll Team the successful candidate will also:
- Provide support, training and leadership to payroll colleagues.
- Support operational tasks and be willing and able to carry out BAU when required.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders, monitoring SLAs and actions.
- Work with key stakeholders on business and process improvements utilising Project Management skills.
- Support the Payroll Function with business development and future growth.
You should have
- CIPP Qualification or equivalent experience.
- Strong people management experience and clear vision and purpose to inspire teams and colleagues to organise themselves in an agile way to reach SLAs and objectives.
- A solid understanding of payroll processes, compliance practices and systems.
- Experience building strong relationships, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Hands-on approach to problem solving and a ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Able to step in and out of day-to-day payroll related activities where required to support the team.
- Ability to make decisions and drive through solutions.
- Detailed knowledge of tax regulations including year-end processes.
- Demonstrable experience of working to deadlines and performing duties to a high level of accuracy whilst working under pressure, ideally managing multiple payrolls.
- Ability to see through tasks fully with minimal support ensuring team is kept on board and fully informed.
- High level of proficiency with MS Excel.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with audiences of varying levels of seniority.
- Proficient knowledge and ability to analyse and report on payroll data.
- Experience auditing payroll to make sure it satisfies all government regulations.

- Circa £45,000 per annum depending on experience, plus bonus and excellent benefits.

- 37.5 hours per week
- Hybrid working, 40% of your working week at home, 60% in our Glasgow office.
