Performance Engagement Lead (Secondment)
Job reference: SYS-12231
As part of the Transport UK Group, West Midlands Trains delivers around 1,300 train journeys a day, for more than 60 million passengers a year, across our two brands - London Northwestern and West Midlands Railways.
We are committed to delivering a safe and reliable train service, by investing in our fleet of trains, stations and employees. As part of this investment, we are looking to recruit a Performance Engagement Lead, on a 6 Month Fixed Term Contract/Secondment basis, based in Birmingham role. The purpose of this role is to take full operational ownership for managing and supporting an external agency in the design and delivery of a high-impact performance engagement programme that embeds operational performance as a shared and understood business priority across all grades and functions at WMT.
You will serve as the primary WMT lead, acting as the central point of coordination and accountability for the successful rollout of the campaign until a permanent appointment is made. While the agency will lead on creative direction and overall delivery, you will be responsible for ensuring alignment with WMT’s strategic priorities, operational context, and internal tone of voice.
You will own the delivery of all internal engagement activities, including planning, facilitating and executing launch events, briefings, workshops and communication touchpoints. You will work proactively with local teams to ensure campaign materials are timely, relevant, and effective, and that messaging lands appropriately with each target audience.
You will be responsible for tracking progress, reporting outcomes, and escalating risks, while working closely with the Performance team to maintain consistency in narrative, brand, and tone across both campaign and business-as-usual performance communications.
This role requires someone who can bring structure, pace, and credibility to the campaign, using insight, energy and WMT know-how to bring the engagement plan to life and build momentum behind performance as everyone’s responsibility.
