As part of the Transport UK Group, West Midlands Trains delivers around 1,300 train journeys a day, for more than 60 million passengers a year, across our two brands - West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway.
We are committed to delivering a safe and reliable train service, by investing in our fleet of trains, stations and employees. As part of this investment, we are looking to recruit a new Station Operations Lead on a full-time permanent basis. As Stations Operations Lead, you will oversee the day-to-day operations and customer experience at Birmingham Snow Hill and Train Crew Depot.
The successful candidate will ensure minimal delays to customers and effective communication during disruptions, working closely with the Customer Experience Manager, Duty Train Crew Manager, and Train Service Managers.
What does the job involve?
- Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all safety responsibilities and regulations, including the Health & Safety at Work Act.
- Customer Service: Provide accurate and timely information to customers and staff, especially during disruptions. Announce train arrivals, departures, delays, and other events professionally.
- Traincrew Liaison: Manage train crew reporting, fit for duty checks, and distribution of notices. Act as a focal point for information dissemination to train crew.
- Station Operations: Monitor train running, deploy train crew resources effectively, report accidents and incidents, and ensure the safe and timely dispatch of trains.

- Willingness to work unsociable hours and attend necessary training courses. The role involves working 35 hours on a balanced roster
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and organize working time efficiently.
- Computer literate and numerate.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others.
- Comply with all safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Attend necessary safety and environmental training courses.
- Report accidents, near misses, and substandard conditions promptly.
