It is an exciting and busy time for the HR team with an ambitious people agenda for 2017 and beyond. Internal Communications & Engagement (IC&E) connects the organisation’s employees to each other and keeps them informed of important news and updates.
This role reports into the Head of Human Resources and will involve working closely with colleagues and managers across the business on both day to day communications processes and support the delivery of engagement initiatives in order to improve our employee engagement and service excellence.
The role
You will manage and oversee the content for internal communication screens around all depots, posters, leaflets, Driver communications on DASWEB, social media, email announcements and lead on the delivery of ‘Abellio Talk’ our internal employee magazine.
You will write content and design communications for announcements, campaigns and news features for various channels of communication, including coordinating nominations for industry awards.
You will be responsible for creating and maintaining an internal communications template library along with a communication and brand guidelines document.
A key part of the role will be to work alongside Human Resources and IT to identify and select an appropriate intranet provider, which you will ultimately be responsible for managing and overseeing to ensure content is up to date with relevant and topical information.

Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to confidently produce and deliver written content

Excellent communication skills

Prior experience of refreshing and updating existing intranet or web sites

Confidence in using a wide range of digital and social media

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

Creative ideas and a can-do attitude

Confidence in dealing with a wide range of staff, including senior stakeholders

Excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail

Ability to balance a very varied workload and to be self-sufficient and hands-on
