An exciting opportunity exists to join the Merseyrail Engineering Team as a Fleet Performance Manager.
The Merseyrail Engineering team manage the contract for the provision of fleet maintenance and cleaning services by Stadler Rail. The Fleet Performance Manger is a key member of the team, whose principal role is to monitor daily fleet performance against the requirements of the Maintenance Sub-Contract (MSC) for the existing fleet and the Train Availability & Reliability Agreement (TARA) for the new fleet. This includes being the principal point of contract with Stadler Rail on daily fleet performance issues to determine whether an adjustment to the contract Service Fee is warranted due to fleet availability, reliability or other contractual requirement.
The role manages a team of Fleet Performance Clerks in the Merseyrail Electrics Control (MEC), who gather information on daily fleet issues and incidents. This role also requires the assimilation of a wide range of sources of information, including MEC logs and other train performance data, which is then used to determine overall performance by Stadler against the maintenance contract. You would be required to work with colleagues on the identification of fleet technical incidents and their communication to Stadler on a daily basis, including the calculation of MTIN performance. Additionally you will engage with the Merseyrail Operations team in the correct attribution of delays to the fleet, including PPM failures and minutes lost.
Ideally the successful candidate should possess the following:-
- Practical knowledge of train operations, with basic technical knowledge of rail vehicles desirable.
- Good interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to challenge and negotiate with colleagues and third parties over fleet performance issues.
- Be able to successfully deliver a number of tasks on a daily basis in accordance with agreed timescales.
- Be computer literate with good report writing and numeracy skills.
- IRO membership would be advantageous
