We have an exciting opportunity to join our Operations Team as a Driver Manager at our Southall Depot. The successful applicant will report to the Operations Manager and play a vital role in driving our performance, through absolute responsibility for a number of drivers on designated routes within the depot.
The Role:
- Driving a significant reduction in road traffic collision and customer injury rates across designated routes.
- Embedding The Three “Sees” defensive driving strategy.
- Completing thorough investigations into all incidents to identify root cause and actions to prevent reoccurrence on an individual and wider basis.
- Actively monitoring the Bus Customer Experience Survey (BCES) and ensuring that drivers are striving for the best scores while intervening as necessary if they do not.
- Educating drivers proactively on delivering excellent customer experience.
- Having a good working knowledge of the UK Domestic Drivers’ Hours’ Regulations. Acting on any breaches found through internal checks or audits.
- Ensuring all drivers are aware of the role of the DVSA and the need to report any DVSA checks immediately.
- Carrying out driver licence audits twice each year and on any enhanced risk basis.
- Managing the sickness absence levels of direct reports, either commending good attendance or applying the Attendance Policy as required.
- Producing effective occupational health referrals so that the doctor is able to assist the employee and you in managing sickness absence.
- Working with Allocations and Central Duty Managers (CDMs) to ensure staff lost mileage is minimised and that any appropriate actions are taken.
- Working with all necessary departments (e.g. Performance / Schedules / Engineering) as well as drivers to minimise lost mileage to Other Deductible (OD) reasons.
The Candidate:
- People skills – communication, listening, adaptability to your audience
- Experience of conducting investigative interviews, preparing casework and hearing cases where applicable
- Strong organisational, time management and communication skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
- Qualification in IOSH would be desirable
