This is an exciting time to join the franchise as a Security & Crime Reduction Assistant on a full-time permanent basis at our Birmingham office.

As a Security & Crime Reduction Assistant you will be reporting to the Security & Emergency Planning Manager and be responsible for coordinating CCTV throughout the company for Stations, Fleet, Safety and Security functions. Handling, managing and processing CCTV as per requests received. Liaising with internal West Midlands Trains staff and external partners such as the British Transport Police (BTP), Network Rail other Third Parties regarding the provision of CCTV. Highlighting performance, safety and security issues to Security & Emergency Planning Manager on a regular basis. You will also assist the Health, Safety, Security and Environment Directorate and wider business demand to provide a safe and secure environment for passengers and members of staff

Principle Accountabilities

  • Provide support to the Security & Emergency Planning Manager as required
  • Handling, management and processing of CCTV across the business
  • Access control to all CCTV services providing and withdrawing permissions as required
  • Liaise with external partners such as the British Transport Police, Network Rail, Internal and external third parties as the principal contact from West Midlands Trains for CCTV
  • Engage with external suppliers relating to CCTV or infrastructure requests to maintain the service and availability 3
  • Liaising with West Midlands Trains management teams on CCTV requests and extraction issues
  • Visit locations as necessary companywide to support the above
  • Support any legal proceedings relating to CCTV on request  
  • To act as the point of contact in West Midlands Trains for collating, recording and tracking CCTV for the business
  • Maintaining the CCTV ‘chain of custody at all times.
  • Liaising under legal obligations with internal and external parties to maximise the level of information available from West Midlands Trains following incidents to passengers, staff and property.
  • Performance manage existing services and systems highlighting issues to the Security and Emergency Planning Manager
  • Supporting the Security and Emergency Planning Manager to provide information on security measures across the busines

Knowledge and Experience

  • Knowledge of CCTV procedures and protocols
  • Knowledge of railway environment
