If you are a Building Surveyor, Electrical Engineer or currently graduating in one of these disciplines, we have opportunities to join us at West Midlands Trains in our property team, on a full-time, permanent basis.

We’re looking for the ideal candidate to enable the successful delivery of projects by providing technical expertise/knowledge in their relevant disciplines.  Acting as the focal point for delivery the Work Stream Lead works with the project manager (Internal or External) to define the scope of the project and ensure that the project achieves the quality criteria specified in the design. The Property Workstream Lead is responsible for reviewing and accepting risk and method statements on behalf of West Midlands Trains.

The successful candidate will be based in Birmingham City Centre and ideally be able to demonstrate:

  • Successful delivery of infrastructure and M&E enhancements and renewals or a thorough understanding of the process.
  • The ability to work creatively, within a framework, to provide high quality outcomes.
  • An ability to manage multiple discipline contractors on site.
  • Credibility in the field of construction and M&E.
  • Exposure and experience of delivery in a design and build environment.
  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent experience within a construction or mechanical/electrical discipline.
  • The ability to train and mentor staff on best practice techniques/principles.
  • Self-motivation, able to work alone, engage and inspire challenging stakeholders.
  • Data Analysis experience, able to collate complex data and present in a transparent format.
  • Health and Safety Qualification – IOSH minimum, NEBOSH ideally.
  • Knowledge of process improvement, lean practices such as 6 sigma / Kaizen would be desirable.
