Merseyrail is currently going through a transition period with the introduction of a new fleet, we are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Senior Fire and Security Manager. In this role you will be required to have a specialism in Fire and will also be responsible for the management of the Security Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Safety, the purpose of this role is to deliver, in accordance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Fire Precautions (Sub Surface Regulations) providing assurance on compliance. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading Merseyrail’s fire strategy ensuring preventative and protective measures for fire arrangements are suitable and sufficient throughout the business.

The successful applicant will support the Head of Safety to develop and deliver Merseyrail’s security strategy ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

The successful applicant must be able to prepare statistical analysis, produce reports to demonstrate compliance and assurance, undertake and support with the delivery of audits and inspections. Where necessary, undertake investigations initiating lessons learnt protocol if required. The applicant will need to be an effective communicator as they will be responsible for managing key internal and external stakeholder relationships.

Experience, Specific Knowledge and Qualifications Required:

  • High level understanding of Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and Sub Surface Regulations (2009).
  • Qualification in English and Mathematics
  • Ability to provide high level reports and undertake and investigations.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Packages, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • NEBOSH – National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management (or suitable equivalent)
  • Experience of People Management
  • Rail Experience preferable in a fire discipline
