Position - Permanent - Full time

Location - 134 Edmund Street, Birmingham

With Rail in Great Britain undergoing the most significant change since privatisation, along with the introduction of the National Rail Contract which is set to create a more agile and flexible way of working, we are recruiting a new role within the organisation of Client Relationship Business Partner. You will manage the relationship with the Department for Transport/West Midlands Rail Executive whilst protecting the interests of the shareholders. You will be partnering with business areas to develop and deliver strategies, ensuring targets are being met, obligations are being delivered and the clients are aware of progress. You would be based at our head office in Birmingham city centre, on a full time (37 hours), permanent basis, with some travel expected across our network.

Key responsibilities will include: (Full job description attached above)

  • Working with departments to write case studies, presentations and reports as required to deliver the best possible outcome for the shareholder. These will communicate how the actions of the business align to our core strategies, are driven by robust data and evidence as well as demonstrating the improvements our actions have made to our customers and the business.
  • Act as a key conduit into the Annual Business Planning process, working with all areas of the business to develop, understand and write about future strategy – particularly with our business planning and finance teams.
  • Monitor and track progress of relevant business KPIs, providing information and insight into trends etc. Working with teams to ensure and demonstrate how KPIs have been met.
  • Support the Client Relationship and Contracts team with focussing on core compliance of the new National Rail Contract across the business.
  • Provide verbal and written updates to the clients and key stakeholders on various issues.

You will bring with you the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbally.
  • Pro-active individual with an ability to engage with others quickly to establish relationships on all levels.
  • Good knowledge of West Midlands Trains operations and areas of functional responsibility.
  • Good understanding of how the railways work.
  • Understands who our key external stakeholders are.
  • Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, web based systems.
  • Organised and methodical.
  • Able to understand and absorb information quickly and accurately and seek appropriate action to deliver realistic solutions.
