At Abellio London we love our jobs and everything we do is to support our wider goal of being the best bus operator in London.

Abellio London Bus operates bus services across London on behalf of TFL, plus rail replacement and event services across the UK. We operate over nine per cent of the London’s bus network, running 800 vehicles and employing around 2,700 employees across six depots in Central, South and West London. We carry over 150 million passengers a year on TfL’s contracted bus network.

Are you a Data Protection Manager or have experience in interpreting regulations and applying policies and standards in a multi-site environment? We are recruiting for an experienced Data Protection Manager or someone with the right attributes, attitude and aptitude to grow into the role within our team where you will report to our Head of Projects. The business will invest in the appropriate training for the right person.

Duties include:

  • Developing the data protection strategy and promoting a positive data protection and privacy culture through training and awareness
  • Ensuring an appropriate level of data and privacy compliance through the company
  • Coordinating and overseeing investigations in relation to breaches & complaints
  • Providing advice on all matters relating to data protection processes including data processing agreements, data asset registers, 3rd party contracts and policies
  • Overseeing data protection governance for new projects and initiatives
  • Data processing mapping and process analysis

Knowledge and Experience:

To succeed in the role, you will need to be an enthusiastic team player with the ability to develop networks and drive change through strong stakeholder management skills and constructive challenge. You will have excellent analytical skills, a strong understanding of business drivers and the ability to interpret data protection legislation, policies and standards to apply them constructively and pragmatically. You must be comfortable working with colleagues at all levels across a UK and global group and dealing with internal and external auditors and legislative bodies.

If you already have experience in a data protection or compliance role with a robust understanding of the core elements of data protection law and experience of managing security, data or risk regulatory frameworks, that would be beneficial – as would possession of Information Privacy Professional Europe CIPP/E or other relevant qualifications.
