We have an exciting opportunity within our Engineering Department at Romford ROC for a Duty Fleet Control Manager.
The Role
The Duty Fleet Control Manager is a Senior Manager position with responsibility for providing shift leadership, guidance and line management to the Fleet Control team at the Rail Operating Centre (ROC) in Romford. This role will report to the Fleet Control Manager, with your reports consisting of a selection of our Fleet Support Technicians and/or Maintenance Delivery Controllers.
Duties will therefore include being responsible for:
- Ensuring units are provided in accordance with the third-party maintainer’s maintenance schedule (Alstom and Stadler)
- Insuring that only trains safe to be in traffic are accepted back for service from the third-party maintenance providers
- Ensuring unit defects in service are managed to reduce delay minutes, cancellations by ensuring target fix time and cut-and-run procedures are followed.
- Working across the business to maximise train availability and ‘right train, right diagram’ to ensure an excellent customer experience.
- Line management of up to 6 direct reports
- Shift leadership of up to 4 Fleet Control colleagues
- Driving the development and adherence of Fleet Control policies and procedures.
- Supporting Fleet Control colleagues during service disruption and providing clear and high-quality communication updates to the wider-business.
- Special project work as required.
- Deputising for the Fleet Control Manager as applicable.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a confident colleague who has engineering or operational experience within the rail sector or a comparable industry (transport, logistics etc). The successful candidate should be proactive, strategic and have a working knowledge and competency within a control centre environment, with ability to influence internal/external stakeholders.
