There is an exciting opportunity to join the Merseyrail Safety Team as a Standards & Audit Manager.
Reporting to the Senior Safety Risk & Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for the development and management of a robust programme of guidance in order to ensure that occupational health, safety, security and environmental standards remain up to date and relevant to all legislation. You will also act as the designated Document Controller for Merseyrail Safety Team and maintain the safety section on the Company's intranet.
In this role you will support the Senior Safety Risk and Assurance Manager with the development of the annual Safety audit plan, ensuring that associated internal and external (supplier) audits are delivered in accordance with schedule and that remedial actions are effectively recorded and tracked to completion.
Communication skills are an essential part of this role as you will build relationships with key partners and stakeholders to facilitate risk assurance activities.
Previous experience in rail, managerial and audit management would be beneficial.
To be successful in this role you will need to be able to: -
- Carry out occupational health, safety and security audits in accordance with the annual audit plan, along with other risk-based activity as required.
- Develop action plans with relevant managers to address any deficiencies identified during audit, and monitor the progress of actions.
- Assist managers at all levels of the organisation on safety, environmental and security standards in order to ensure that associated management processes are developed, amended and updated as required.
- Ensure that the requirements to review and prioritise safety related industry standards are carried out by appropriate managers in accordance with the company.
You will need good computer literacy, numerical and verbal skills including Word, along with a strong focus on Excel and report writing skills.
The successful candidate should have also completed an accredited Safety Auditor course.
Completion of a NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is desirable.
The successful candidate should also have the ability and confidence in building excellent working relationships with colleagues and internal/external customers alike.
